01 Getting Started

ApplyReady is a Chrome extension built specifically for international students on F-1, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, or H-1B visas. It reads any job listing in seconds, flags visa conflicts, sponsorship walls, and location mismatches, then drafts your outreach — so you stop wasting time on roles you can't take.

Yes — completely free during beta. You get 25 job analyses per day at no cost. No credit card, no subscription, no paywall.

No account is required to install and use the extension. You only need to provide your email if you want daily rate limit tracking and outreach generation. Authentication uses a magic link — no password needed.

1. Install from the Chrome Web Store — one click, shows up instantly.

2. Open the extension panel and paste your resume text into Settings.

3. Set your visa status and location once.

4. Open any job listing and click Analyze. Done.

Google Chrome only for now. Firefox, Edge, and Safari support are on the roadmap but not yet available.

02 Visa & Eligibility

Set your status once in Settings — every analysis is personalized to your authorization level.

The extension reads the full listing and looks for language patterns indicating restrictions — phrases like "must be authorized to work", "no sponsorship", "US citizens only", security clearance requirements, and similar signals. It cross-references these against your visa status.

It catches the vast majority of cases visible in the listing itself, though some companies bury restrictions deeper in the application portal.

APPLY — strong match. Your visa status is compatible, skills align, no major red flags found.

SKIP — clear disqualifier. The role explicitly excludes your visa type, requires clearance, or has a hard experience mismatch.

MAYBE — worth a closer look. Sponsorship isn't confirmed but not denied, or there's an ambiguous requirement worth clarifying first.

Yes. Set your city once in Settings. ApplyReady flags roles that are onsite-only in a different city — so "hybrid" in San Francisco doesn't slip past you when you're in Ohio and can't relocate.

03 Features & How it Works

Every job board — there's no supported-sites list. LinkedIn, Indeed, Handshake, Glassdoor, Wellfound, company career pages, university portals. If there's text describing a job, ApplyReady can read it. Selection Mode lets you highlight any text on any page to trigger an analysis manually.

Highlight any text on any page — a floating button appears. Tap it to analyze the selected text as a job listing. Useful for PDFs, email forwards, or niche boards where auto-detection doesn't trigger.

During beta, the limit is 25 analyses per day, resetting at midnight. If you need more, reach out — limits are being adjusted based on actual usage patterns.

No. Just paste plain text into the Settings panel — copy from your PDF, Word doc, or LinkedIn profile. You only need to do this once; it saves locally in your browser across sessions.

Typically under 10 seconds. The extension reads the page, sends the relevant content to the AI, and returns a verdict with pros, red flags, skill gaps, and a drafted outreach message.

04 Outreach Generation

Cover Letter — 3 tight paragraphs, no filler, professional tone.

Email — direct recruiter outreach with contact info.

LinkedIn Note — 2–3 sentences, connection request style.

Handshake Message — concise, no unnecessary headers or address blocks.

Yes. Add the recruiter's name before generating and the message uses their first name naturally — not "Dear Hiring Manager." Leave it blank and it defaults to a neutral professional opener.

Never. ApplyReady generates direct, specific, confident prose that sounds like a real person wrote it. No empty openers, no hedging, no generic platitudes.

Yes. Outreach is generated using both the job listing and your resume — it references your actual skills and experience, not a generic template.

05 Privacy & Data

Your resume is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's chrome.storage API. It never leaves your device except when you trigger an analysis — sent over HTTPS and discarded immediately after. Never stored on our servers.

No. ApplyReady does not sell data, does not share it with advertisers, and contains zero ad trackers or third-party analytics. The only external services used are Supabase (authentication) and the Anthropic Claude API (analysis) — neither is used for advertising.

No. ApplyReady does not have access to your browsing history and does not track which pages you visit. It only reads the active page's content when you explicitly click Analyze.

We log your email address (for authentication) and usage records — timestamps of when an analysis was requested, for rate limiting only. We do not log job listing content, your resume, outreach messages, or analysis results.

Email sharmasundararj@gmail.com and we'll delete your account and all associated data within 48 hours. Full details in the Privacy Policy.

06 Account & Access

We use magic links. Enter your email, receive a one-time link, click it — you're in. No password to remember or get phished. Sessions use short-lived JWT tokens with automatic refresh rotation.

No. Your email is used only to send magic links and notify you of material changes to the privacy policy. No newsletters, no promotions, no marketing without your explicit opt-in.

Not yet. Your resume and preferences are stored locally in each browser. If you use ApplyReady on a different computer, paste your resume again in Settings. Cross-device sync is planned for a future release.

ApplyReady was built by a student at Youngstown State University — someone who has experienced exactly the frustrations this tool solves. It's a small, independent project. Questions go directly to the builder at sharmasundararj@gmail.com.
